Report

As issued in the advisory, the New Moon is today (first day into the Sabbath). I apologize for not being able to issue this report until now.

This month will be 29 days long, since it will still be the dry season in the Middle East, with no clouds to obscure the moon, which will be mature enough for a haze to not obscure on the 29th.

At the end of this newsletter are links to the printable calendar for Chamishi—both a simpler universal one on PDF and an editable one that can be used for your local area (Word Doc).

Important Chamishi Events in Biblical History

On this New Moon, Aaron died at Mount Hor, the 40th year in the wilderness (Numbers 33:38).

Also on this day, Ezra, with some of the children of Israel, arrived in Jerusalem after coming out of Babylon from the captivity (Ezra 7:6-9).

"On the seventh day of the month, which is the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, unto Jerusalem: and he burnt the house of JEHOVAH, and the king's house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great man's house burnt he with fire. And all the army of the Chaldees, that were with the captain of the guard, brake down the walls of Jerusalem round about. Now the rest of the people that were left in the city, and the fugitives that fell away to the king of Babylon, with the remnant of the multitude, did Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carry away" (2 Kings 25:8-11).

It thus became a fast day for the Jews (see Zech. 7:3).
