Revi'i 178 New Moon Watch

The New Moon may be able to be sighted with the naked eye in parts of the Americas (especially more central) on the 29th (fourth day into this Sabbath), but it will not be visible in other areas of the world, including at the Mount of Olives, until the 30th. If you live in the Americas, we still recommend watching for it if you can, especially if you have binoculars or a telescope, as it will be interesting to see if you can see such a young moon; and please let us know if you see it on that evening. Here are the visibility maps.

So, as mentioned in the previous newsletter, this month will be a full month of 30 days. Next month, Revi'i, may be 29 or 30 days. And the Mount of Olives will be in a similar predicament as the Americas are on the 29th of Revi'i, so that will be interesting to watch as well.

We will not be sending out a New Moon Report after this, so please read on for Revi'i information.

Important Revi'i Events in Biblical History

On the 5th day in 593 BCE, Ezekiel begins receiving visions (see Ezekiel 1:1-3).

On the 9th day, King Hezekiah of Judah was taken into captivity by Babylon after an 18-month Babylonian siege of Jerusalem in 586 BCE; this is covered in the first seven verses of both 2 Kings 25 and Jeremiah 39. This became one of the four fast days of mourning for the Jews (Zech. 8:19).
